Project background
Enhancing Employability through Vocational Training (EEVT) is a project implemented by two partners, VSO Tanzania and Vocational Education and Training Authority – VETA. The project is supported by E4D/SOGA (GIZ) and Tanzania LNG. The discoveries of gas in southern Tanzania (Mtwara and Lindi) are expected to boost the economy of the regions. Most employment opportunities for Tanzanians are expected in the supply chains of the oil and gas developments, for example in the hospitality, construction and transport sector

Role overview
In this role, you are able to contribute to a life with more possibilities and better employment for VETA graduates. You will be working with VETA Mtwara to support the EEVT project in ensuring that VETA students and graduates have relevant information for employability opportunities and will lead the process from identification of job opportunities until matching of VETA graduates. For this process, a so-called KAZI Connect Centre is set up. In this role, you will be provided with a lot of assistance and guidance from experienced international volunteers, who will help you in growing this centre to a stand-alone business in the VETA organisation. The manager will organize and facilitate employability trainings for teachers, students and graduates, and (networking) events. She or he will work with VSO and VETA management and employees, staff, teachers, students, graduates and industry.

Skills, qualifications and experience required
Qualifications (essential)
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Human Resources, Business Management or Social Science.

Communication
Communication at various levels depending on the audience and content of the message.

Analysis and creative problem-solving – proactive to deliver solutions to challenges, ability to identify the interest of VSO, VETA, EEVT project, students, industry and other stakeholders.
Ability to analyse and quickly grasp the fundamentals of a need. Able to find innovative ways of solving or pre-empting problems.


Flexibility – ability to be proactive in changing environment of working, works under minimum supervision and keeps the targets on track under challenging environments.

Desirable:
Experienced with Human Resource, Recruitment, ICT and industry links. Ability to meet demands of the private sector.

All volunteers have an allowance paid in local currency. The allowance meets reasonable living expenses in country, but will not be enough to send money home.

VSO works with some of the poorest communities in the world which means accommodation varies and will be basic.
